Tour - Garden

Join the Head Gardener and his staff for this popular monthly guided tour of the Government House gardens. These gardens cover approximately 15ha and are considered to be the finest example of a Victorian era garden in Australia.

Time:  10.30 am

Tour duration is approximately one and a half hours.

Photography is encouraged.  Parking will be available on site.  Please drive through the main gates and follow the parking signs.

Dress:  Neat Casual with enclosed shoes and appropriate wet weather gear.

Cost:  $10.00 per head

Behind the Scenes Tours - Monthly from November 2016 - March 2017

Tour - Behind the Scenes

Come along and see what makes Government House tick. The tour will take in all of those little or never seen before aspects of the House - kitchen, flower room and wine cellar just to name a few.

Time:  10.00 am  

Tour duration is approximately 1 hour.

Photography is encouraged.

Parking: is available on site - please enter via the main driveway and follow the directions of staff.

Dress: Neat casual

Cost:  $10.00 per head

Please note:  this tour will not be suitable for any guests with restricted mobility.  We recommend that you consider booking for a State Rooms tour, a Furniture tour or a Garden tour if you will require wheelchair/ramp access.

State Room Tours - Monthly from November 2016 - March 2017

Tour - State Rooms

A guided tour of the Government House State Rooms will allow you to experience the grandeur of this Victorian Gothic House.  Fine silverware, crystal chandeliers, heritage European and early Colonial and imported furniture and amazing art works are just some of the attractions of this tour.

Time:  10.00 am

Tour duration is approximately 1 hour.

Photography is permitted.

Parking will be available on site. Please drive through the main gates and you will be directed to the car park.

Furniture Tours - Monthly from November 2016 - March 2017

Tour - Furniture

A guided tour of the Government House State Rooms highlighting various periods of imported and locally made furniture (specifically the King's Yard pieces). Professional furniture experts will tell some of the tales that these pieces have to offer.  You will hear about the methods of construction and the history of pieces dating back to the first Tasmanian Government House and the early 1820s.

Time:  10.00 am

Tour duration is approximately 1 hour.

Photography is permitted.

Parking will be available on site.  Please drive through the main gates and you will be directed to the car park.
