60th Wedding Anniversary or 100th Birthday
Tasmanians who are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary or their 100th Birthday may receive a congratulatory message from Her Majesty The Queen; the Governor of Tasmania; the Premier of Tasmania; the Governor–General; and the Prime Minister.
50th Wedding Anniversary
Tasmanians who are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary may receive a congratulatory message from the Governor of Tasmania; the Premier of Tasmania; and the Prime Minister, but not from Her Majesty The Queen. The current Governor–General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, will also send messages for 50th Wedding Anniversaries, however this is at the discretion of each Governor-General.
How to apply for a Congratulatory Message
You can arrange a congratulatory message by contacting the State Protocol Office on telephone number 03-6270 5667. Alternatively you could apply through the electorate office of any Federal Member of Parliament or the office of any Senator.
Only one application needs to be lodged to receive all the messages from the various people.
You will need to provide supporting documentation such as a birth certificate or marriage certificate. If these are not available you can provide a Statutory Declaration.
When to arrange the message
Ideally, you should apply for the congratulatory messages at least one month before the anniversary or birthday.
