Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC, Governor of Tasmania, and Mr Richard Warner AM join with all Tasmanians in expressing condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family on the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich.

His Royal Highness is fondly remembered by Tasmanians for his nine visits to the State between 1954 and 2000 and for his lifetime of service to the Commonwealth.

Many Tasmanians have benefited from the Duke of Edinburgh Award, offering individual challenge and encouraging young students to undertake rewarding, constructive and enjoyable activities. 

Further announcements will be made in due course regarding mourning observance in Tasmania.
