The power of community, connection and conversation to support positive mental health was in the spotlight on Saturday 11 July, as the Tasmania Football Club hosted its inaugural mental health round at North Hobart Oval.

Proceeds from the ‘Stronger Together – Who’s in Your Huddle’ game day supported mental health organisations Headspace, Lifeline and SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.

These groups work to promote positive mental health, reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide, and encourage people across Tasmania to seek help when they need it.

Her Excellency the Honourable Caroline Wells, Governor of Tasmania, and Dr Rob Walters RFD were delighted to attend and meet representatives from these organisations, as well as Tasmania Devils players, staff and mascot Rum’un.

Kicking off an exciting VFL-VFLW double header, Her Excellency presided over the coin toss in the men’s game against the Gold Coast Suns, which the Devils won by 50 points.

The women’s team also had a successful day, winning by 24 points against the Geelong Cats.
