Lunch on the Lawns - Friday 31 January 2025

Government House

Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and enjoy Lunch on the Lawns at Government House on Friday 31 January from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Come and spend a Friday afternoon enjoying the beauty and tranquility of Government House gardens, overlooking Hobart’s CBD and waterfront. Relax and enjoy the summer garden, including the mature shade trees, floral perennial borders, and the feature meadow display. You can also enjoy music from the Australian Army Band.

This initiative is part of the Governor’s important community engagement role, making Government House and its gardens more accessible to the public.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drink, however in keeping with the family nature of the event alcohol is not permitted. Some seating will be available, but visitors are encouraged to bring rugs and camping chairs.

Unfortunately, pets are unable to attend, however service animals are welcome.

Parking is not available on site, however there is plenty of parking available in the nearby Domain area. Government House staff will also be on hand to facilitate access for those with mobility issues.

If you are unable to make it this event, there will be more chances to enjoy Lunch on the Lawns on Friday 21 February and Friday 21 March 2025.
