Government House Tasmania Wines
The Government House estate vineyard was established in 2015, with the first vintage being produced from the 2018 harvest.
Government House Tasmania wines are produced from the grapes grown on the Government House Estate. Riesling and Cabernet Merlot are the two styles produced.
Aromas and flavours of lemon and lime are balanced by a crisp, dry finish. This wine would pair well with flash fried squid in a salt and pepper seasoning.
Apple blossom, lime pith and Meyer Lemon aromas are supported by a citrus driven palate, finishing crisp and dry. This wine would be fantastic paired with freshly cooked seafood or oysters served with a lime granita.
Aromatically intense, with white flowers, lime juice and lemon pith. A juicy mid palate of green apple and Meyer Lemon shows excellent intensity and length and would match well with chargrilled salmon or a preserved lemon risotto.
2018 Cabernet Merlot
A varietal nose of ripe blackcurrant and dark plums flows into a structured palate of dark berry fruits, dark plums and firm tannins. This wine is enjoyable now and would be delicious served with roast lamb or grilled King Island beef.
2019 Cabernet Merlot
Aromas of blackcurrants, herbs and olives are followed by a spicy and savoury palate of mulberries and red plums. With smooth tannins, this wine is drinking well now and could be enjoyed with braised lamb shanks with rosemary.
2020 Cabernet Merlot
An appealing varietal nose of blackcurrant, dark plum and earthy hints. The palate is balanced and smooth, with blackcurrants and dark plums joined by dark forest berries. The firm tannins suggest this wine would be best enjoyed from 2023 onwards.
