Honours and Messages

Honours

Twice a year the Governor holds investitures for recipients of Honours which are announced during the year, such as Australia Day Honours, King’s Birthday Honours; Bravery Awards and other awards.

If you wish to nominate someone for an honour, the forms can be downloaded from the website It's an honour | Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (pmc.gov.au) and where you will find a wealth of information about the Australian Honours System.

You may also obtain a nomination form from the State Protocol Office (Phone 03-6270 5667).

Congratulatory Messages

Congratulatory messages to those Tasmanians who are celebrating the achievement of significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries are available on request.  If eligible, messages may be received from His Majesty The King, the Governor-General of Australia, the Prime Minister of Australia, the Governor of Tasmania and the Premier of Tasmania.

How to apply for a Congratulatory Message

Requests for messages may be made through the State Protocol Office of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Alternatively, you may apply through the electorate office of any Federal Member of Parliament or the office of any Senator.

Only one application needs to be lodged to receive all the messages from the various people.

Verification

You will need to provide supporting documentation such as a birth certificate or marriage certificate.  If these are not available you can provide a Statutory Declaration.

When to arrange the message

Ideally, you should apply for the congratulatory messages at least four to six weeks before the anniversary or birthday.
