In her community engagement role, the Governor regularly welcomes delegates attending important national conferences and events to Government House.

Yesterday evening she hosted a reception to mark the Australasian Epidemiological Association’s 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting, which has been taking place in Hobart this week.

The Meeting has featured presentations from national and international experts exploring the intersection of traditional epidemiology and the opportunities and challenges presented by digital transformation.

The Governor noted that Tasmania had been at the forefront of epidemiological and public health research, making important global contributions such as pioneering research on sudden infant death syndrome and ongoing work in multiple sclerosis.

She was also pleased to present certificates to new Fellows of the Association, who were recognised for making important contributions to the field of epidemiology.
