City of Burnie

In the morning, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, commenced an official visit to the City of Burnie which included visits to the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden, Burnie Community House, Camdale Coastcare and Penguin Rehabilitation Project, University of Tasmania Cradle Coast campus and meetings with Burnie Youth Council and Business North West representatives, prior to attending a Civic Reception hosted by the Burnie City Council at the Burnie Town Hall.

On Friday 6 March 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted an International Women’s Day fundraising luncheon at Government House to support Tasmanian women with gynaecological cancer.
