Disability Commissioner Tasmania

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received Ms Catherine Whitington, Disability Commissioner Tasmania.

As part of her community engagement role, the Governor receives calls from many different people and organisations at Government House, including community representatives and other officials.

Her Excellency was pleased to receive Tasmania’s inaugural Disability Commissioner, Catherine Whitington, following her commencement in the role in May this year.

The Disability Commissioner’s mission is to promote inclusion, protect rights and safeguard the wellbeing of people with disability across Tasmania.

The Governor and Professor Chalmers were delighted to meet Ms Whitington and to hear about the work underway to help ensure our State is a place that is safe and accessible for all Tasmanians with disability.
