Epilepsy Tasmania

In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception to mark the 50th anniversary of Epilepsy Tasmania.

The Governor and Professor Chalmers are proud to be joint Patrons of several Tasmanian organisations undertaking important work in our community, including Epilepsy Tasmania.

In the evening, they were delighted to join with supporters to celebrate the organisation’s 50th anniversary at a reception at Government House.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions, affecting one in 25 Australians during in their lifetime, including over 20,000 Tasmanians.

Speaking to guests, the Governor commended Epilepsy Tasmania on its work advocating for the rights and dignity of people living with epilepsy, providing training and support services, building public awareness and supporting and promoting research.

She congratulated the organisation on its commitment to improving the lives of Tasmanians affected by epilepsy, and looked forward it continuing to be a powerful and compassionate voice for the community for the next fifty years and beyond.
