Garden Clubs of Australia, Southern Tasmania

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a morning tea for members of the Garden Clubs of Australia, Southern Tasmania.

In her community engagement role, the Governor regularly welcomes community groups to Government House and is proud to acknowledge the achievements of Tasmanians on the national stage.

With the spring gardens blooming outside, inside the Drawing Room today, Her Excellency was pleased to host a morning tea for the Garden Clubs of Australia’s Southern Tasmania zone.

The event was an opportunity for the Governor to present a special national award to respected floral artist Norma Gordon OAM, who was recently recognised at the Garden Clubs of Australia national conference in Albury.

She presented Norma with the Joan O’Brien Award for Excellence in Floral Art and congratulated her on her outstanding contribution to floral art not only in Tasmania but also across Australia.
