High Commission for the People's Republic of Bangladesh

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received the High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr F.M. Borhan Uddin.

In her ceremonial role, throughout the year the Governor welcomes Ambassadors, High Commissioners and other diplomatic representatives at Government House.

Today she received a call from the High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr F.M. Borhan Uddin.

Australia and Bangladesh share growing links and according to the last Census, there were around 600 people of Bangladeshi origin living in Tasmania.

The Governor and Professor Chalmers enjoyed sharing morning tea with His Excellency in the Government House Conservatory and discussing Tasmania’s connections with Bangladesh.
