Hobart Legacy Inc

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a morning tea for Hobart Legacy Inc.

As Patron of Hobart Legacy, today the Governor was delighted to welcome the organisation to Government House for a very special morning tea in the Ballroom.

For over a century Legacy has provided support to Australian veterans and their families, including providing ongoing support to widows and widowers.

In attendance at today’s morning tea were widows supported by Hobart’s volunteer Legatees, including a group of widows who are turning 100 years old in 2026 who were presented with flowers.

Speaking to guests, the Governor said the widows supported by Legacy remind us that service to one’s country is never carried by service personnel alone, and acknowledged the unwavering assistance the organisation has provided to the families of veterans across generations.
