Hobart Wheelers/Dirt Devils Cycling Club

In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception to mark the 100th anniversary of the Hobart Wheelers/Dirt Devils Cycling Club.

The Governor is always pleased to celebrate important milestones and mark significant occasions with Tasmanian community groups at Government House.

Her Excellency was pleased to welcome members of the Hobart Wheelers / Dirt Devils Cycling Club for a reception to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary.

The club, originally known as the Hobart Amateur Cycle Club, was formed in 1925, making it one of the oldest continuously operating cycling clubs in Australia.

Speaking to guests, the Governor noted the growing numbers of Tasmanians participating in all disciplines of cycling – including highlighting her own participation in the Tasmanian Bike Collective’s Cycle Challenge earlier this year – and congratulated the club on its centenary.
