In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception to mark the 80th anniversary of the Huon Agricultural Society Inc.
Throughout the year the Governor visits communities across our State to join in their major events and celebrations, and she is also pleased to help them mark their important anniversaries at Government House.
This evening, she welcomed members of the Huon Agricultural Society for a reception to mark the organisation’s 80th anniversary.
Since 1947, the Society has staged the annual Huon Show, with the event today attracting about 10,000 patrons each year.
Speaking to guests, the Governor congratulated the Society and wished members all the best for many more years of the Huon Show’s success.
