Interweave Arts Association Inc

In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception for the Interweave Arts Association Inc to mark the 16th anniversary of the sustainable wearable art show, Remade.

The Governor regularly welcomes organisations to Government House who undertake valuable work in our community and always enjoys celebrating the artistic talents of Tasmanians.

This evening, she had the opportunity to do both, as the Government House Ballroom transformed into a catwalk at a reception for the Interweave Arts Association.

Since 2010, the Launceston-based arts organisation has presented the annual Remade Art Show, which invites artists, schools and community groups to design wearable artworks made from recycled materials.

During the event, artists and models paraded a selection of creations from the most recent Remade show, as well as a special outfit created for International Women’s Day.

Speaking to guests, the Governor congratulated Interweave Arts on its work to not only promote environmental sustainability through Remade, but also to provide opportunities for the whole community to discover the power of art to foster joy, creativity and belonging.
