Keep Australia Beautiful National Association

In the evening at the Albert Hall, Launceston, the Governor, accompanied by Professor Chalmers, delivered an address and presented an award at the 2026 National Tidy Towns Awards Presentation Dinner hosted by the City of Launceston on behalf of the Keep Australia Beautiful National Association.

The Governor was pleased to be in Launceston to address and present at the 2026 Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards.

Launceston had the honour of hosting the national event, which recognises the sustainability achievements of grassroots rural and regional communities across the country, after being named Australia’s overall winner last year.

In her address to the ceremony, the Governor noted that Tasmania was a fitting backdrop for the awards, with the State renowned for its natural beauty, clean air and water and strong tradition of community-led environmental initiatives.

The Governor congratulated all finalists on their hard work and their commitment to improving and strengthening their communities, before presenting the Overall National Tidy Town Winner for Australia to Williams in Western Australia.
