Liferaft Systems Australia and BAE Systems Maritime Australia

In the morning at Derwent Park, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address at a ceremonial contract signing hosted by Liferaft Systems Australia and BAE Systems Maritime Australia.

In her community engagement role, the Governor regularly visits Tasmanian businesses and supports significant achievements made by local companies.

Liferaft Systems Australia designs and manufactures life rafts and marine evacuation systems (MES) for passenger and personnel-carrying vessels.

This morning, Liferaft Systems Australia signed a contract to integrate its world leading MES into the Royal Australian Navy’s first three Hunter Class Frigates, which are being built by BAE Systems Maritime Australia.

The Governor said that Tasmania’s skilled workforce and advanced facilities would make a critical contribution to this important national project, and commended Liferaft Systems Australia on continuing the State’s record of innovation and leadership in the maritime industry.
