Municipality of Central Highlands

In the morning at Bothwell, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers commenced an official visit the municipality of Central Highlands which included visits to Bothwell District High School; Central Highlands Visitor Centre and Australasian Golf Museum; Central Highlands Council Chambers to meet with representatives of the community fundraising groups, Bothwell Bunnies and the Bothwell Sheep Station Cup; Ratho Farm, Bothwell, followed by a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of Central Highlands, including a tour of the Community Geothermal Greenhouse and Makers’ Shed, at the Great Lake Community Centre, Miena.

International Women's Day Luncheon 2026

On Friday 6 March 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted an International Women’s Day fundraising luncheon at Government House to support Tasmanian women with gynaecological cancer. More than 100 people attended the event, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Tasmania Gynaecological Cancer Project.
