Municipality of George Town

In the morning at George Town, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers commenced an official visit to the municipality of George Town which included visits to South George Town Primary School; George Town SES; The Country Women’s Association, George Town Branch; Port Dalrymple School and Trade Training Centre; George Town Neighbourhood House; George Town Football Club; and the Low Head Community Garden, prior to attending a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of George Town at the Graham Fairless Centre, George Town.

International Women's Day Luncheon 2026

On Friday 6 March 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted an International Women’s Day fundraising luncheon at Government House to support Tasmanian women with gynaecological cancer. More than 100 people attended the event, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Tasmania Gynaecological Cancer Project.
