Probus South Pacific

In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for representatives of Probus clubs in Tasmania to mark the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia.

The Governor regularly welcomes community groups and organisations to Government House as they celebrate important occasions and mark significant milestones.

This evening, she was pleased to host a reception at Government House for members of Tasmanian Probus clubs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia.  Probus Ambassador and National Spokesperson, Heather Ewart, also joined attendees for the event.

Probus provides opportunities for retirees to come together in community and companionship to enjoy a wide range of activities.

While the first Probus club in Australia was founded in Sydney in 1976, the first in Tasmania was established in Moonah in 1981 and today there are more than 50 clubs around the State.

Speaking to guests, the Governor offered her congratulations to Probus Australia on five decades of friendship, service and community connection for Australians in their retirement and semi-retirement years.
