In the morning at Kettering, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers undertook a tour of the operations of Raptor Refuge Inc.
The Governor enjoys heading out in our community to meet with people and organisations caring for their fellow Tasmanians, as well as for our State’s environment and wildlife.
Her Excellency and Professor Chalmers were pleased to visit Raptor Refuge and find out more about its work rehabilitating injured birds.
In September at Government House, the Governor presented Raptor Refuge founder Craig Webb with his Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to wildlife conservation.
Her Excellency enjoyed reconnecting with Mr Webb as he showed her around the refuge, viewing the aviaries and getting up close to birds being nursed back to health including eagles, falcons and owls.
