Tasmanian Government Education International

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for Tasmanian Government Education International to acknowledge the 2025 international student program in Tasmanian government schools.

Education and youth engagement is a priority for the Governor, and this week she has enjoyed taking part in several events focusing on young people.

Her Excellency was pleased to host a reception to congratulate students who took part in the Department for Education, Children and Young People’s International Student Ambassador program for 2025.

This year, 13 students from China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Cambodia, Brazil, Japan and South Korea, studying at Tasmanian high schools and colleges, have taken part in the program.

They have developed their own skills through volunteering, leadership and collaborative learning experiences, while also promoting Tasmania as a study destination through sharing their own insights and personal experiences.

The Governor presented the students with certificates and thanked them for playing an important role in fostering intercultural understanding in schools around our State.
