In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

This evening, she hosted a reception to mark the launch of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s new Commissioning Circle, which will bring together donors to support the creation of new works by Tasmanian and Australian composers.
Speaking to guests, the Governor highlighted the TSO’s history of providing opportunities for emerging composers and said the Commissioning Circle would allow audiences to enjoy even more original music as well as new voices and perspectives.
Guests then enjoyed a performance from TSO Principal Cellist Jonathan Békés, who played the solo piece ‘Julie-O’ by Mark Summer.
