In the afternoon and also on Saturday at Queenstown, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers attended the arts festival, The Unconformity.
A priority for the Governor is supporting Tasmania’s arts and cultural sector, and she enjoys travelling around our State to attend festivals, meet artists and celebrate our community’s creativity and innovation.
Her Excellency was delighted to head to the West Coast for The Unconformity festival, where she attended several events and was kindly hosted by the West Coast Council.
From historic property Penghana, the Governor enjoyed a performance of Semaphore Score, which saw festivalgoers’ messages relayed via semaphore through the foothills of Mt Owen.
She ventured out on The Unconformity Art Trail through the streets of Queenstown, meeting Tasmanian artists including ceramicist Hermie Cornelisse.
The Governor and Professor Chalmers were also pleased to meet with The Unconformity’s Chair, CEO and Artistic Director, and attend performance artist Luke George’s work Fell during a busy and enjoyable visit to the festival.
