University of Tasmania - 2025 Pathways to Politics for Women Program

In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a ceremony for the University of Tasmania to acknowledge participants graduating from the 2025 Pathways to Politics for Women program.

In her community engagement role, the Governor is pleased to celebrate initiatives which encourage community participation and nurture our State’s future leaders.

In this spirit, Her Excellency was pleased to host a ceremony at Government House for graduates from the University of Tasmania’s Pathways to Politics for Women program.

This is the second cohort to graduate from the Tasmanian program, however Pathways to Politics is now in its tenth year in Australia and has helped hundreds of women from all backgrounds to run for office.

The Governor highlighted the importance of achieving equal gender representation in politics, to ensure we have a diversity of perspectives in our decision-making processes and a robust and truly representative democracy.

She presented the 15 graduates from the 2025 program with their Pathways to Politics pins and congratulated them on their commitment to driving change through political leadership.
