In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, hosted a ceremony for the University of Tasmania to present the 2026 Governor’s Environment Scholarship.
Today the Governor was pleased to present the 2026 Governor’s Environment Scholarship to an outstanding University of Tasmania student, recognising excellence in environmental research and leadership.
The scholarship encourages Honours or Masters students to undertake a practical research project in any area with demonstrated relevance to a Tasmanian environmental topic, and is supported by industry partners.
This year’s recipient, Zara Casimaty, is studying a Bachelor of Science with Honours and her project focuses on developing a reliable method for detecting and analysing nanoplastics in environmental samples.
At a special morning tea at Government House, the Governor was delighted to present Zara with her certificate and congratulate her on her achievement.
