A Message from Her Excellency the Governor

Tasmanians join with the rest of our nation in mourning following the tragic events that took place in Bondi on Sunday 14 December 2025.

At this distressing time, our thoughts are with the Jewish community who were celebrating the first night of Hanukkah.

We send our sincere condolences to all those affected by this terrible attack. Our hearts go out to those who have lost loved ones and witnessed this unimaginable terror.

Amidst the tragedy, may we think of the first responders and brave bystanders who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to assist others.

May we join together to ensure all members of our community feel safe and loved.

Tasmanians wishing to express their condolences to those involved in the Bondi Beach attack are invited to sign the New South Wales Government's online condolence book.
