Terms and conditions

Bowling / Croquet purposes only  

The green at the venue is only to be used for the purpose of recreational bowls / croquet. You are not permitted to use the green at the venue for any other activity without prior written agreement of the Office.  

Access to the venue  

Access to the bowling / croquet green will only be permitted for the date and time specified within your booking confirmation. Access will be granted from 10 minutes prior to 10 minutes after booking time. Entry and exit (whether by vehicle or on foot) is via the Main Gate on Lower Domain Road. Please ring the buzzer at the driveway for Security to let you in. Security will meet you at the top of the driveway and direct you the green. Government House beyond the bowling green is out of bounds, excepting for use of the Portaloos. (Note: 24/7 CCTV cameras operate at Government House.) 

COVID-19 

Attendance at the venue will be considered a declaration that you are compliant with all Public Health Directions. 

Pricing  

The court booking fee is set by the Office. Payment for all bookings must be made in advance.  

Bowling / Croquet Equipment 

The office has equipment available for hire at an additional cost. Equipment must be returned in the same condition at the end of the session, or additional charges may apply. 

Refund Policy  

Please contact Government House if you need assistance to cancel or change your booking. Cancellations made prior to 48 hours before the time booked to play will receive a refund to the credit card provided for the booking. The Office has absolute discretion on whether to provide a refund for any cancellations made within 48 hours of the time booked to play. The Office reserves the right to cancel your booking at any time. If the Office cancels your booking you have the option to reschedule your booking to an alternative time or be provided with a refund.  

Weather 

The ability of the green to be used can be dependent on the weather. If the weather is deemed unsuitable the Office will cancel the booking and you will have the option to reschedule the booking or be provided with a refund. 

Children  

Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times.  

Damage  

Users of the green must not damage, deface or mark any part of the venue. You agree that you will be fully responsible and liable to Office for any damage beyond reasonable wear and tear caused by you to the venue.  

Other users  

A maximum of 20 players/spectators in total are allowed. You agree that you must ensure all users of the venue included as part of your booking comply with these terms and conditions. You agree that you will remain fully responsible and liable to the Office under these terms and conditions for any breach of these terms and conditions by any user of the venue included as part of your booking.  

Refreshments 

Players are welcome to bring refreshments and snacks. This may include alcohol for adults, but not more than one standard drink per adult per hour booked. Alcohol consumption must not affect the ability of venue users to act in a safe manner. Food or drinks may not be consumed on the green. 

Safety  

It is a condition that users of the venue undertake to use the facilities in a safe and cautious manner at all times. A first aid kit is located in the fridge near the green. 

Risk Warning  

You acknowledge that by using the bowling / croquet green you will be exposed to certain risks, including the risk of physical injury, and that use of the green is entirely at your own risk. You have voluntarily read and understood this risk warning and accept and assume the inherent risks in use of the bowling / croquet green.  

Release  

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to release and discharge Office and its officers, employees, volunteers and agents from all liability in respect of any loss or damage you may suffer from use of the green.  

Player Etiquette  

Please take all your rubbish with you and leave the bowling / croquet green and facilities tidy for the next players to use and enjoy. Residential cottages and houses within the grounds are occupied, and players are therefore requested to to keep noise to a reasonable level. Smoking is not permitted within the venue.  

Footwear  

All users must wear appropriate footwear at all times when using the bowling / croquet green.  

Governor visits 

If Her Excellency and/or Professor Chalmers visit the Green players should use the appropriate terms “Your Excellency” and “Professor Chalmers” in conversation. 

Privacy  

You consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with the Office’s privacy statement and privacy policy, which contains information about how you may access and seek correction of your personal information, how you can complain about a breach of your privacy, and how the complaint will be dealt with.

In the event of any emergency that you are not able to report immediately to Government House personnel on duty, call 6234 2611 (Government House Security), 0409 972 656 (Public Access Manager) or 0400 676 982 (Official Secretary). 

Government House personnel 

Government House is monitored electronically and by foot patrol by accredited professional Security Guards. 

Definitions  

Office means the Office of the Governor, responsible for managing the venue. Venue means the Government House bowling / croquet green precinct.
