In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception to mark the Birthday of His Majesty The King.
During the Governor’s term, she has welcomed many Tasmanians to the Government House ballroom for receptions to mark special occasions of significance.
Over the past five years, thousands of guests have attended more than 230 evening receptions, where they have had the opportunity to talk to the Governor, visit the State Rooms and enjoy refreshments prepared by the Government House Kitchen Team.
This week the Governor hosted her final reception, to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s Birthday in Tasmania.
While His Majesty celebrates his actual birthday on 14 November, each year the United Kingdom and many Australian States mark his official birthday in June.
Speaking at the event, the Governor highlighted His Majesty’s commitment to the welfare of people and the planet, and then invited guests to join her in a toast.
During the evening, guests enjoyed music from the Australian Army Band Tasmania.
