Country Women's Association in Tasmania (Inc)

In the afternoon, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a light luncheon to mark the 90th anniversary of the Country Women’s Association in Tasmania (Inc).

The Governor is proud to serve as Patron of the Country Women's Association in Tasmania (Inc) and today was delighted to join with members to celebrate a significant anniversary.

CWA members joined the Governor and Professor Chalmers for a luncheon at Government House to mark the Association’s 90th Birthday.

First established in Tasmania in 1936, the CWA now has a network of 33 branches and more than 600 members who contribute thousands of volunteer hours each year to our Tasmanian community.

Speaking to guests, the Governor commended the Association on its history of combining advocacy with practical action, including undertaking fundraising activities and providing community support.

The Governor thanked the CWA Life Members in attendance for their lifetime of work caring for our communities and congratulated the Association on its long-standing contribution to public life in Tasmania.
