Cricket Tasmania

In the evening at Bellerive Oval, the Governor and Professor Chalmers attended the final Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL11) cricket match between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Perth Scorchers.

The Governor was delighted to be at Ninja Stadium to watch the Hobart Hurricanes take home the Women’s Big Bash League title for 2025.

Following an outstanding season at the top of the table, the Hurricanes defeated the Perth Scorchers by eight wickets in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

As Patron of Cricket Tasmania, the Governor was pleased to join players and staff on the pitch after the game to celebrate the maiden WBBL title and congratulate all involved in the team’s success.

This victory caps off an exceptional year for Tasmanian cricket, with the Hurricanes men’s team also winning the BBL title in January.
