In the afternoon at the Federation Concert Hall, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address and presented trophies at the Official Prize Giving for the 2025 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

Since 1945, the world’s yacht racing community has focused on Tasmania during the final days of the year, thanks to the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and its international reputation for sailing excellence.

The Governor was pleased to attend the presentation ceremony for the 80th edition of this iconic event.

Addressing the ceremony, she congratulated all those involved in the 2025 race and commended overall winner Min River, the first double handed yacht and the first with a female skipper to take out the title.

The Governor was pleased to present trophies to line honours winner Master Lock Comanche and the first yacht out of Sydney Heads, LawConnect.
