Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, received the Honorable Jason Smith, Representative for Missouri, United States House of Representatives, Mr Doug Drummond, Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade US Economic Section, and Mr David Giordano, US Trade Policy Advisor.

In her ceremonial role, the Governor receives calls from Ambassadors, High Commissioners and consular officials, and well as other senior international representatives.

Congressman Jason Smith represents Missouri’s 8th congressional district and chairs the Ways and Means Committee, the oldest committee in Congress.

He was in Hobart to meet with government and business representatives as part of a visit to Australia.
