In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for delegates attending the Conference of the International Plant Production Society, Australian Region.
During her term, the Governor has been pleased to host receptions at Government House for delegates visiting Tasmania to attend a wide variety of national and international conferences.
These receptions have provided an opportunity for the Governor to welcome experts from across Australia and around the world to Tasmania, and to showcase our State’s expertise in a broad range of fields.
This has included experts attending conferences focused on medicine, science, law and education, as well as groups researching diverse issues and topics including road safety, elder abuse, humour studies and garden history.
This evening, the Governor was pleased to welcome delegates attending the 54th annual conference of the International Plant Production Society - Australia, which is taking place in Hobart this week.
Speaking to guests, she highlighted Tasmania’s reputation in horticultural production, research and native plant conservation and wished attendees the best for a successful conference.
