Girl Guides Tasmania

In the morning at Orana Campsite, Roches Beach, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers attended and met with members of Girl Guides Tasmania attending the 2026 State Camp Quambatook.

As Patron of Girl Guides Tasmania, the Governor was delighted to join adult and youth members on the final day of their state camp at Roches Beach.

Known as Quambatook, the camp is held every three years in different parts of the State and brings together Guides from around Tasmania to enjoy outdoor adventures and hands-on activities.

The theme of this year’s camp is ‘Looking Back, Looking Forward’, and today’s events focused on looking forward by celebrating the importance of Guiding today, Girl Guides Tasmania’s achievements and its aspirations of the future of its youth members.

The Governor joined attendees for morning tea before talking with the Guides as they took part in reflective activities to bring Quambatook to an end for 2026.
