Hamilton District Agricultural Show Society Inc

In the afternoon at the Hamilton Recreation Grounds, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address to officially open the 2026 Hamilton Agricultural Show hosted by the Hamilton District Agricultural Show Society Inc.

This weekend the Governor has continued her travels around our State, joining with Tasmanians as they celebrate community events and mark significant occasions.

Today, she was delighted to be in the Derwent Valley to officially open the 2026 Hamilton Agricultural Show and present prizes to exhibitors and competitors.

As Patron of the Hamilton District Agricultural Show Society, the Governor thanked all those who made the show possible for another year, including committee members, exhibitors, competitors, sponsors and volunteers.

Following formalities, the Governor and Professor Chalmers were then pleased to enjoy some of the show’s highlights, including meeting some friendly goats.
