Here We Are Dementia and Social Support Group

In the afternoon at Bicheno, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers met with members of the Here We Are dementia and social support group.

In her community engagement role, the Governor regularly meets people from around our State who are caring for their communities and making a difference in the lives of their fellow Tasmanians.

Today, she was in Bicheno, where she was delighted to meet with members of the Here We Are dementia and social support group.

Run by the Bicheno Community Health Group, Here We Are holds weekly get togethers focused on fun, sharing and connection for people who are socially isolated, have a chronic illness, or who are living with dementia, and their carers.

The Governor was pleased to receive a copy of the group’s recently-launched book which features the stories of guests, carers and families shared at these gatherings, and enjoyed chatting with group members over afternoon tea.
