Kingston Neighbourhood House

In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a morning tea to mark the 40th anniversary of the Kingston Neighborhood House.

The Governor was pleased to celebrate this significant milestone with the Kingston Neighbourhood House over morning tea.

Over the past four decades, the House has helped more than 10,000 people who have come through its doors seeking support and community.

The Governor congratulated the dedicated staff, volunteers and board members for their tireless work supporting young families and children, providing companionship to older residents, creating opportunities for learning and skill-building and advocating for those experiencing hardship or isolation.

Guests enjoyed morning tea before embarking on one of Professor Chalmers’ popular tours of the Government House State Rooms.
