Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society | 31st SteamFest

In the morning at Sheffield, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address to officially open the 31st SteamFest event hosted by the Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society.

The Governor enjoys travelling around our State and supporting the many diverse events organised by our Tasmanian community throughout the year.

Yesterday she was delighted to be in Sheffield to officially open the 2026 edition of Steamfest Tasmania hosted by the Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society.

SteamFest celebrates the steam age and north-west Tasmania’s rural heritage with displays, attractions and activities, including railway rides, vintage machinery demonstrations and tractor-pulling competitions.

Speaking at the official opening, the Governor congratulated the Society and its volunteers on hosting the 31st edition of the event and commended the festival’s friends and sponsors for making SteamFest possible for another year.
