In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a reception for the Royal Hobart Regatta Association to mark the 188th Royal Hobart Regatta.

The Governor is proud to serve as Patron of the Royal Hobart Regatta Association, and this evening she hosted a reception at Government House to mark the 188th edition of the event, which is taking place this weekend.

Taking pride of place on the stage at the reception was the Sir Thomas Lipton Cup, which will be awarded on Monday to the winning crew taking part in one of the Regatta’s signature sailing events.

Speaking to guests, the Governor highlighted the Government House Family Day this Sunday, which supports the Regatta’s expansion of events from the Regatta grounds onto the Queen’s Domain – the original setting for Regatta celebrations.

Visitors will be able to bring a picnic and find the perfect spot on the Government House lawns to view all the activity on the River Derwent as part of the 188th Regatta.
