Southern Tasmanian Netball Association

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted an afternoon tea to mark the 60th anniversary of the Southern Tasmanian Netball Association.

The Governor was pleased to welcome the Southern Tasmanian Netball Association (STNA) to Government House to celebrate an important milestone.

The STNA is the largest netball association in Tasmania, and in 2025 it is marking 60 years of operating from its headquarters at Creek Road in New Town.

Today, the Association supports over 270 teams and more than 3,000 netballers of all ages and abilities, from Under 9 to Premier League.

As a former primary school netballer, the Governor was delighted to join with life members, board members and guests to enjoy afternoon tea to mark the STNA’s 60th anniversary.

She was also pleased to present flowers to congratulate the Association’s newest life member, Clare Bush.
