As Tasmania’s Head of State, the Governor facilitates international engagement and regularly welcomes diplomatic representatives from around the world to Government House.

This evening, she was delighted to host a reception to mark the visit to Tasmania of a delegation of European Union economic and commercial counsellors.

The representatives from 17 EU member states are in the State this week visiting Tasmanian businesses and institutions and engaging with key industry sectors.

The reception provided an opportunity for the EU delegates to continue conversations and build relationships with government officials, industry leaders, peak bodies and exporters, while also enjoying Tasmanian produce prepared by the Government House kitchen team.

Speaking to guests, the Governor welcomed the EU representatives to Hobart and noted the depth of the relationship between Australia and the EU, and the growing interest in strengthening ties at state and regional levels.
