In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, formally received the Speaker of the House of Assembly, together with a delegation of Members of the House of Assembly.

Later at Parliament House, the Governor, accompanied by Professor Chalmers, presided at the Ceremonial Opening of the 50th Parliament of Tasmania.

Later at Government House, the Governor formally received the President of the Legislative Council, together with a delegation of Members of the Legislative Council.
