In the afternoon at Sandy Bay, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Professor Chalmers, delivered an address to officially open the new Chris Rae Middle School on behalf of The Hutchins School.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception to mark 175 years of continuous operation of The Hutchins School.
