In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, hosted a luncheon with representatives of Vice-Regal patronages and other organisations.
Following on from her International Women’s Day event last week, today the Governor was pleased to host a luncheon at Government House with organisations in our community who are focused on supporting Tasmanian women.
Attending the luncheon were representatives from several of the Governor’s Patronages, as well as those from other Tasmanian organisations who provide services to and deliver programs focused on women across a wide range of sectors.
This included representatives from the Country Women's Association in Tasmania (Inc), Girl Guides Tasmania, the Sexual Assault Support Service, Dress for Success Tasmania, Free2b Girls Groups, the Hobart Women's Shelter, Tassie Mums, the Tasmania Jewels, the Tasmania Football Club, Soroptimist International Tasmania, the Zonta Club of Hobart Inc. the Pathways to Politics for Women Program, Girls’ Brigade Tasmania, the RSL Women’s Auxiliary, the Hamilton Literary Society and the Hobart Ionian Club.
The event was an opportunity for the Governor to hear from these groups about the projects and initiatives they are undertaking in our community, and also to thank them for their ongoing work to support Tasmanian women.
