In the morning at Princes Wharf, Hobart, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, delivered an address at the official arrival ceremony hosted by the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme to mark the final day of Youth Voyage 01/26 on board STS Young Endeavour.
The Governor was delighted to help welcome Royal Australian Navy Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour to Hobart at the conclusion of its first journey for 2026.
After 38 years of service, it was also the ship’s final scheduled visit to Hobart, before it is replaced by a new state-of-the-art vessel.
The Governor was pleased to meet members of the Youth Crew, their family and friends, and Royal Australian Navy personnel, and to present the Young Endeavour Award to crew member Abby, recognizing her exceptional contribution, commitment and leadership.
Speaking at the end of journey ceremony, she congratulated Youth Crew members on successfully completing their voyage and joining the thousands-strong group of Young Endeavour alumni.
The Governor also commended the Captain and crew on providing a safe and challenging environment for young people to explore their strengths and develop as team members and leaders.
