Lunch on the Lawns - Friday 19 December 2025

Government House

With Christmas just around the corner, you are invited to join us at Government House for an extra-festive Lunch on the Lawns on Friday 19 December from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Her Excellency serves as Patron of the Country Women’s Association in Tasmania, and so the CWA will be coming along to offer a wonderful selection of goodies to purchase at a special Christmas stall. Visitors will also be able to purchase wine, gin and books from the Government House gift shop.

The Derwent Valley Concert Band will be providing entertainment, and with the big day only a few sleeps away, Santa will also be stopping by to say hello to all our youngest visitors.

Entry is free and all are welcome. No bookings are required.

This initiative is part of the Governor’s important community engagement role, making Government House and its gardens more accessible to the public.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drink, however in keeping with the family nature of the event alcohol is not permitted. Some seating will be available, but visitors are encouraged to bring rugs and camping chairs.

Unfortunately, pets are unable to attend, however service animals are welcome.

Parking is not available on site, however there is plenty of parking available in the nearby Domain area. Government House staff will also be on hand to facilitate access for those with mobility issues.

If you are unable to make it to this event, there will be more chances to enjoy Lunch on the Lawns in the New Year, on Friday 30 January and Friday 20 February 2026.
