General Sir John Monash Foundation

In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for the General Sir John Monash Foundation.

As State Patron of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, the Governor was pleased to host a reception for the organisation at Government House.

Established with the vision of fostering the qualities of General Sir John Monash in future leaders, the Foundation enables talented Australians from all fields of endeavour to pursue postgraduate studies at world-leading universities.

Since the scholarships were first awarded in 2003, more than 300 Australians have been named John Monash Scholars, studying across a range of disciplines at universities around the world.

In attendance were Tasmanian recipients, 2012 John Monash Scholar Anita George, 2018 Chairman’s Circle John Monash Scholar Dr Jarrah Dale, and 2026 Wesfarmers John Monash Scholar Sarah Leary.

Speaking to guests, the Governor thanked the donors and families who support the work of the Foundation and acknowledged the scholars who carry General Sir John Monash’s example forward.
